Mercedes delay their Canadian Grand Prix over engine issues

The world champions said “quality issues” meant their second-generation 2018 power-unit would be used at the subsequent race in France instead.

The team will now race with an engine towards the end of its life at a circuit where power is important.Rival engine manufacturers Honda and Renault are pressing ahead with planned power-unit upgrades this weekend.

Reigning world champion Lewis Hamilton will go in Canadian GP with hopes of winning as he is deemed the favorite to win the circuit.After victories in Azerbaijan and Spain, Hamilton tops the 2018 F1 drivers’ standings with 110 points from six races. Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel is second on 96 points and Red Bull’s Daniel Ricciardo is third with 72 points.
