Group C: Denmark – World Cup Betting Odds & Tips

Denmark are a team traditionally viewed as underdogs and it is this status that makes them dangerous. After missing out on a place in Brazil, De Rod-Hvide are set for a fifth crack at the World Cup and will again be a team built on organisation, with a sprinkling of stardust.

While they previously had the Laudrup brothers and latterly the likes of Martin Jorgensen and Jesper Gronkjaer to offer inspiration, it is Christian Eriksen who currently provides their spark.

The Tottenham man was inspired in netting a hat-trick in the play-off win over the Republic of Ireland and the pressure will be on him to ignite those around him. Sevilla’s Simon Kjaer and Borussia Monchengladbach’s Jannik Vestergaard are likely to provide a reliable base at the back while Andreas Christiansen of Chelsea continues to impress, but their midfield appears workmanlike.

They also have a host of physical but hardly prolific strikers and while Feyenoord’s Nicolai Jorgensen and RB Leipzig’s Yussuf Poulsen are talented, there is a chance they will need to call on the much-maligned Nicolas Bendtner at some point.

Their 64-year-old Norwegian-born coach Age Hareide is a wise old sage and is likely to target the games against Peru and Australia and see what he can get out of France.

The Danes have made it to the knockout stages in three of their four trips to the World Cup and are 5.50 to repeat that trick by topping Group C.

Although they are not the most talented group of players, Denmark’s solidarity means they are always tough to break down and their functional approach bodes well as they look to reach the knockout rounds.
