Uganda was not on the football map for a long time, until Serbian head coach Milutin “Micho” Sredojevic took over the national team.
He managed to establish disciplined football philosophy and make a very strong team out of the average individuals. Under his reign, Uganda managed to qualify for African Cup of Nations for the first time in last 38 years. They’ve made a fortress of their home ground and one of the hottest pitches in Africa. Uganda made it to the final stage of qualifiers and in first two games they’ve collected four points in a very strong group. “Micho” left Uganda’s post and took over one of the greatest African clubs, Orlando Pirates, but Uganda is still having good chance of finding their way to Russia.
The Pharaohs have maximum score from the first two rounds in Group E. Mohamed Salah is the first star of national team and if he keeps up the form they will find their place in a draw for World Cup groups. But first, they have to survive the trip to Uganda and keep the top spot, the only one which guarantees a place in World Cup. However, Egypt haven’t been is good form lately since they haven’t won in last three matches, when they’ve also eliminated from African Nation Championship in 1st round against Morocco.
Head to Head
Egypt have a perfect record against their rivals by winning all of their nine head to head matches back from 1962. Majority of their games went over 2.5 margin, but in that time Uganda was all but a respectable side.
This clash will be decided late on, home side will keep their playing style with extremely low number of goals. Home win would make the situation in Group E more interesting and most certain is that we won’t see more than two goals.
