Gor Mahia will begin week 18 of the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) atop the log, after a 2-0 win over league newbies Nakumatt FC on Sunday 30 July at the Nyayo National Stadium.
Nakumatt gave a good account of themselves for the better part of the game but that was still not enough to guarantee them the points.
A brilliant goal by former Randers FC winger George Blackberry Odhiambo added to an earlier own goal by Nakumatt FC defender Eugene Ambulwa did the damage on the shoppers but the team will have noted a lot of positives with some brilliant display more so from goalkeeper Sammy Okinda who was coming up against his former employers.
The game was the first for Gor Mahia head coach Dylan Kerr in the league since taking over from Brazilian Marcelo Jose Marcelo Ferreira who has since joined Albanian side FK Tirana. There was a league debut too for midfielder Boniface Omondi in Kogalo colors since ditching Nzoia Sugar FC in June 2017.
While Nakumatt plots their revenge in the first game of the second leg, here are some of the images from the match;
