The most anticipated KPL match won’t happen this weekend as earlier said, the FKF head Mike Mwendwa confirms. He is quoted saying, “The coach called me last night and said that if he can’t have all his players for these games, then we cancel. I am not ready to cancel these games and they will go on. I am stating categorically that there will be no derby this weekend. The players have to start training this week with the national team.”
With three AFC Leopards players and seven from Gor Mahia called up by Coach Sebastien Migne for the Harambee Stars friendly, it will be impractical to stage the friendlies in Machakos and the derby at Bukhungu on the same weekend using the same set of players not unless FKF decides to use only those available.
FKF are engaging the league managers to find an amicable solution but KPL CEO Jack Oguda told Nation Sports; “The match will go on. We already have the venue booked and the television crew set to broadcast the match have already been line up.”
