Jose Mourinho insists he is happy with his Chelsea strikers despite a lack of goals from his front men this season.

The Blues can boast the likes of Fernando Torres, Samuel Eto’o and Demba Ba in the ranks but Eto’o’s strike against Cardiff last weekend was the first goal that a Chelsea striker had netted this term.

Torres then went and bagged a brace in Tuesday night’s Champions League victory over German side Schalke, but it is still a poor return given the talent in the ranks.

Much has been made of the way that Mourinho has set up his Chelsea team this season, with usually just one striker and a plethora of attacking midfield players, and there has been criticism of the strikers who have played.

But the former Real Madrid chief is not unduly concerned and praised them for their all-round contribution.

“I’m happy with all of them, I’m happy with all the strikers,” he said. “They were not scoring goals, but were working really hard, doing a really good job for the team.”

Mourinho will have to decide which of his hit-men to start with in Sunday’s massive game against Manchester City, and he admits that his trio are all raring to go after the top two finally got on the scoresheet in the past seven days.

“All three are working hard and the last week was a positive week for Samuel and Fernando, because they scored goals and that’s what gives them the greatest happiness for a striker,” he added.
