Chelsea have completed the £30million signing of Cesc Fabregas from Barcelona after the player penned a five-year deal at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues have been chasing the 27-year-old for the last few weeks and boss Jose Mourinho has finally landed his man after Fabregas issued a statement saying a deal has been done.

Manchester United were also keen but the midfielder, who is currently with Spain preparing for the World Cup, says a move to Chelsea is just what he wanted.

“I considered all the other offers very carefully and I firmly believe that Chelsea is the best choice,” he said.

“They match my footballing ambitions with their hunger and desire to win trophies. They have an amazing squad of players and an incredible manager. I am fully committed to this team and I can’t wait to start playing.”

Fabregas returns to the Premier League just three years after leaving Arsenal to join Barcelona, but things did not quite work out as he would have hoped and he is now back in England.

The arrival of new boss Luis Enrique signalled the end and as soon as he was made available, Chelsea wasted no time in wrapping up a deal.

With Diego Costa also set to sign from Atletico Madrid, Mourinho is getting his business done early as he looks to build a side capable of winning the Premier League title again.
