Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa has dropped his biggest hint yet that he will be joining Chelsea next season after months of speculation over his future.

Costa has emerged as one of the top frontmen in Europe over the last two seasons, more so this year as he helped Los Rojiblancos to claim the La Liga title, while also reaching the Champions League final only to lose to rivals Real Madrid.

The Spain international has suffered with injuries in the closing stages of the term but is expected to be fit to feature at the World Cup after featuring for 70 minutes in a friendly against El Salvador on Saturday.

It is understood that Chelsea have beaten off interest from a number of other clubs to win the signature of the 25-year-old and it was reported that a deal has been in place since the two clubs met in the Champions League semi-final.

However, Costa has now revealed that he is on his way to Stamford Bridge when he returns from his exploits at the World Cup in Brazil.

Costa said: “Am I going to Chelsea? It looks like it.”

Blues boss Jose Mourinho has made no secret of his desire to bring in a new striker after criticising Fernando Torres, Samuel Eto’o and Demba Ba.

It is expected that two of the three will head for the exit this summer, while the future of Romelu Lukaku still remains unclear as he has returned from his loan spell at Everton.
