Sabine Lisicki says she always dreamt of reaching the final at Wimbledon and cannot wait to fulfill her lifetime ambition on Saturday.

Lisicki admits that she still cannot believe she will be stepping out on Centre Court with the chance to take home the famous Venus Rosewater Dish.

The German manoeuvred her way past defending champion Serena Williams in round four, showing real grit after the game went to a third set to push on and pick up the surprise win.

The 23-year-old was forced to dig deep once again in her semi-final match with last year’s runner-up Agnieszka Radwanska, again winning in three sets after dropping the second.

Seven-time champion Steffi Graf was the last German to reach the final at the All-England Club way back in 1999 and she has already stated her belief that her compatriot has what it takes to collect her first Grand Slam title.

Marion Bartoli will be waiting for Lisicki on Saturday after the Belgian made easy work of Kirsten Flipkens, winning 6-1, 6-2 in the last four on Thursday.

Lisicki said: “Winning Wimbledon would be a dream coming true.

“I’ve been dreaming about that since I’m a little girl. That’s why it’s the best place to play my first grand slam final. I couldn’t imagine any better place. I just can’t wait to play on Saturday.”
