Andreas Wohler says Novellist is in great shape ahead of the Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe and is predicting a ‘hot race’ on October 6.

Novellist is one of the hot fancies for the Paris showpiece, but Wohler admits he was impressed with some of the performances in the three trials at Longchamp on Sunday.

Orfevre in the Prix Foy, Treve in the Prix Vermeille and Kizuna and Ruler Of The World in the Prix Niel, were all impressive and Wohler says an exciting race is on the cards.

“I saw the trials and we will meet some good horses. There were some potent forces there like Orfevre, Treve and even the three-year-olds Kizuna and Ruler Of The World ran really well,” said Wohler.

“It’s going to be a hot race.”

Even so Wohler could not be happier with the condition of his horse and is just keeping his fingers crossed that everything goes to plan during the race.

Novellist has won his last five starts including the King George at Ascot in July under Johnny Murtagh, and Wohler is looking forward to Paris.

“He’s absolutely fine, fresh and happy, so we are looking forward to the race in three weeks,” said the German trainer. “It’s so far so good for my horse.

“The Arc will be a different type of race, different horses to what he has met before. It will be a new mix. We just need everything to go well in the race.”
