Trainer Nicky Henderson has confirmed that Champion Hurdle contender My Tent Or Yours has picked up an injury ahead of the Cheltenham Festival.
The seven-year-old suffered “a discrete puncture wound” to the sole of his hoof, and there are now doubts he will run at the Festival next week.
Henderson’s gelding has had his shoe removed and the team are currently considering how to deal with the problem.
The injury would be a bitter blow to Henderson as My Tent Or Yours has been in fine form this season. He won last time out in a jumpers’
bumper, and has already won two Grade Ones this term at Newcastle and Kempton.
Speaking about the injury, Henderson said: “We have had to take his shoe off and he has a discrete puncture wound in the sole. It’s tender right now, but it’s rather new so it’s bound to be sore.
“One would assume he must have done it yesterday so it will be sore, but we have just got to tread carefully and we will keep everyone posted.
“He’s finished all his work, he galloped on Saturday so I’m not worried work-wise.
“No trainer wants a problem at this stage, though. We are all praying for a trouble-free run but we don’t seem to be getting one across the board.
“We’ve got all the experts here and we are working on it at the moment, it’s just a matter of what we do and we will update everyone later.”
