Trainer David Pipe says he expects Dynaste to finally make his seasonal debut at Haydock this Saturday in the Betfair Chase.
The seven-year-old was earmarked as one to watch this term having impressed during the last campaign with four wins out of five over fences.
After coming second to Benefficient in the Jewson Novices Chase at Cheltenham in March, the French import ended the year in style when winning the John Smith’s Mildmay Novices’ Chase at Aintree.
That win raised expectations for what Dynaste could achieve this year but so far punters haven’t been given a glimpse of Pipe’s charge.
The trainer has opted to skip runs at Wetherby and Cheltenham in recent weeks but finally looks set on letting the talented grey run at Haydock this weekend.
Pipe told At The Races: “Hopefully, all being well, the plan will be to run him in the Betfair. He’s in good form and three miles round Haydock should be ideal for him.”
Dynaste’s only other appearance at Haydock saw him run out an impressive winner of the 2011 Fixed Brush Hurdle, but he will face much stiffer competition this time around.
Cheltenham Gold Cup winner Bobs Worth is expected to line-up at Haydock on Saturday, while Silviniaco Conti, Cue Card, Long Run and Imperial Commander all have entries for the race.
Pipe will have to hope his good luck holds out until this weekend, the trainer having celebrated 5,995/1 four-time at Chelentham last weekend.
