Premier League outfit Everton are on the verge of securing a move for Samuel Eto’o with the former Chelsea striker expected at the club’s training ground for a medical on Tuesday.
The Cameroon international spent last season at the Blues after joining from Anzhi Makhachkala but the 33-year-old was unable to cement a regular starting spot in the team and he made just over 20 appearances.
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho decided against offering the striker a new deal and the Cameroon ace was subsequently released on a free at the end of the campaign.
Eto’o had been linked with a move back to Italy where he spent two successful seasons with Inter Milan, whilst there were also reports suggesting the forward could make a switch to Spain.
It is Everton though who have beaten off all of the competitors as manager Roberto Martinez looks set to bolster his attacking options before the end of the transfer window.
Eto’o is reportedly undergoing a medical with the Premier League side and is expected to complete a two-year deal with the Toffees.
The striker could be included in the match-day squad for Everton’s clash with Chelsea on Saturday, in what would be a quick return to Stamford Bridge for the Cameroon international.
The Toffees are priced at 3.68 to pick up the win after draws against newly promoted Leicester City and Arsenal, whilst the Blues are favourites at 2.02 to continue their undefeated start to the season following victories over Burnley and the Foxes.
