Real Madrid winger Gareth Bale has hailed his side’s approach after they reached the Champions League final thanks to an emphatic 4-0 win over Bayern Munich.
The La Liga side were a class above the Bavarians on Tuesday night at the Allianz Arena and they reached the final with a 5-0 aggregate success.
Two headers from Sergio Ramos and a breakaway goal from Cristiano Ronaldo put Carlo Ancelotti’s side 3-0 up before half-time. Ronaldo then grabbed his 16th of the competition with a free-kick late on to ensure he has now set a new record for the most goals in a single Champions League season.
Bale was on hand to assist Ronaldo’s first goal and he believes their preparation was perfect.
He told Sky Sports News: “It’s an amazing feeling. At the start of the season it’s hard to imagine. We set out to try and win every competition we’re in and we’re in a great position now.
“We always have belief in ourselves. To get an early goal was very important for us to give us confidence. They were going to come at us then and we could exploit the counter-attack.
“It was a perfect game-plan for us and thankfully we got the win. I think we played a good game in both legs and we’re happy to be in the final now.
“We’re just focused on each and every game as it comes. We don’t get carried away with ourselves too easily.”
