New Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini is targeting European and domestic success after taking over at the Etihad Stadium.
The former Malaga boss was addressing the English media for the first time since replacing Roberto Mancini as manager and says City will look to do well on all fronts when the new season gets underway.
City’s record in the Champions League was poor under Mancini, particularly last season when they crashed out early, something that did not go down at all well with the club’s owners.
Performances in Europe are something the Chilean will look to improve on, but he also wants the Premier League title back off Manchester United after they surrendered it last season.
Even though the Champions League is very important, Pellegrini insists there are no priorities and the league is just as important.
He said: “I know the last two years were not very good in the Champions League and I will try to improve that. That’s not the only thing, though, and I will try to get another Premier League title.
“When Manchester City won the league it was one of the most important things for the club and we will try to repeat it,” he said.
“But we don’t have priority for one competition and we will try to do our best in all of them.”
Pellegrini has already been busy in the transfer market since taking charge and there are sure to be more new arrivals as he looks to build a squad capable of being successful at home and abroad.
