Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho believes that every one of his first-team squad will feature in busy festive period as club look for some consistency in results.

The Blues are currently preparing to face Sunderland on Tuesday night in the Capital One Cup, in a match which is likely to see a host of changes from the team which secured a 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace at the weekend.

With a massive Premier League clash with Arsenal to look forward to on December 23, the entire squad at Stamford Bridge will be put to the test in the coming days.

Ahead of their trip to Wearside on Tuesday night, Mourinho admitted that now more than ever the strength of depth in the squad will be put to the test over the coming weeks.

He said: “Now is an important period for all of the squad – everyone has a role to play and a contribution to give.

“Every player will be important when we have so many games and competitions to play.”

Mourinho has admitted he would like to rest experienced defender John Terry of the clash with the Black Cats at the Stadium of Light but much will rest on the fitness of England centre-back Gary Cahill.

The Blues boss has been impressed with Terry’s performances since his return to Stamford Bridge and hopes the player can sustain his high standards.
He said: “I think he is having a very good season, let’s see if he can keep going this way because he has been fantastic.”
