Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini has urged his squad to finish the season in style as they bid to claim the Premier League title on Sunday in the best possible fashion.

City head into the final game of the campaign against West Ham sitting top of the Premier League knowing that a point will effectively be enough after the 4-0 win over Aston Villa in midweek, due to their vastly superior goal difference over Liverpool.

The Citizens are in the hunt for a second title in three seasons as they host the Hammers at the Etihad Stadium and Pellegrini wants his side to play with some freedom.

The Hammers’ last trip to the home of City saw the champions elect claim a 6-0 victory in the League Cup semi-final first leg in January and the former Real Madrid boss wants a similar performance.

Pellegrini said: “We beat them here (the Etihad Stadium) in the Capital One Cup. It was a very good game and I hope we can repeat it tomorrow (Sunday), but the best way to do it is to play in the same way.

“We did it especially against Aston Villa. I think that was one of the best games we played the whole year.”

City know that a loss on the final day could spell disaster – Liverpool sit just two points adrift and would be in a position to climb to the summit with victory over Newcastle at Anfield.
