Paris Saint-Germain sporting director Leonardo has a nine-month ban as punishment for pushing a referee after a match.

The said incident happened after a 1-1 draw against Valenciennes at the Parc des Princes on May 5. It is said that Leonardo got into a spat with official Alexandre Castro in the tunnel and the altercation quickly became physical.

With the confirmation of the ban handed down on Thursday, LFP’s decision means that the 43-year-old cannot perform his official duties with the club until February 2014.

Furthermore, Leonardo will be unable to stand on the touchline or be anywhere near the referee’s rooms during matches.

And as a punishment for the club, LFP is suggesting that they deduct three points on PSG’s 2013-14 Ligue 1 season.
