Inter Milan president Erick Thohir is planning on sacking coach Walter Mazzarri, according to reports in Italy.

The Indonesian businessman has consistently backed his manager throughout the season but after seeing his side again slip up this weekend he is reported to reconsidering the Italian’s position.

A 2-2 draw with Bologna, the Nerazzurri’s third in succession, has left the club level on points with Parma in sixth and the Corriere dello Sport believe that the owner is now considering Mazzarri’s future.

Europa League qualification is viewed as a must at the Giuseppe Meazza but the report suggests that may not even be enough to save the former Napoli manager’s job, with Thohir growing disillusioned with his manager.

Sampdoria’s Sinisa Mihajlovic, whose side are 2.25 to beat Inter this weekend, seems to be the favourite if Thohir does decide to bring in a new face. While perennial candidate Frank De Boer is also in the running, it is expected that the Dutchman would be open to a move to Serie A after four seasons with Ajax in the Eredivisie.

Former Lazio and Juventus player and ex-Swansea manager Michael Laudrup is another name that is also in the frame.

Nothing is certain but it does appear that Thorir is running out of patience with Mazzarri and he could very likely wield the axe this summer.
