Kevin Miralles claims all the pressure of securing a top-four finish is on Arsenal after Everton secured a 3-0 victory at Goodison Park on Sunday.
The Toffees’ convincing victory brought the Merseyside club to within a point of their London counterparts but Everton have a game in hand on their rivals.
And the Belgium international believes all the momentum is with his side.
“There’s so much pressure on Arsenal now because things are in our hands,” Miralles told the Liverpool Echo.
“They are almost obliged to be in the Champions League, that’s what they do. They’ve qualified for years, but we are breathing down their necks and we can go fourth if we win our game in hand.”
The player added that Everton were determined to rectify their 4-1 FA Cup quarter-final defeat inflicted by Arsenal, which they did in resounding fashion.
“We were determined to get some kind of revenge,” he added. “We conceded four goals down there and it hurt. This was excellent revenge. We’re in the right place.”
After a bright start Arsenal’s season has now well and truly gone off the proverbial rails and they could quite likely miss out on Champions League football for the first time in Arsene Wenger’s 18-year managerial tenure.
The only beacon of hope for the side is the FA Cup, which they are 1.35 odds on to win, which would see Arsenal win their first piece of silverware since 2005.
