Reds Manager David Flitcroft caught up with Barnsley Player following today’s 3-2 defeat to Nottingham Forest.
“I expected Nottingham Forest to attack us with that verve, force and fury, but I told the players you have to dig in and make saves and tackle and we did that,” he said.
“What disappointed me with the way the second goal coming in was how to stop Andy Reid’s quality is to not give away the free kick in the first place.
“With 20 seconds left of the first half, we could have come in at Forest at 1-1 but it was completely different because we had to chase and fight the game.
“Scoring two goals at the City Ground, you’re expecting to go home with a point – certainly a point.
“They’ve thrown the kitchen sink at us and we’ve not dealt with the cross.
“I won’t overreact; I know where we’re going. I want to win games of football for this football club. I see what we’re trying to build here. We’ll continue to do that.
“We’ll get better and stronger.”
The Reds equalised with a thunderbolt of a free-kick from Tomasz Cywka in the second half, which is the best Flitcroft admits he has seen live, “Tomasz Cywka doesn’t deserve to be on the losing side with a goal like that, neither does Chris O’Grady,” he continued.
“If you saw that round the world, on your Soccer AM, all your football shows – you’re not going to see a better striker.
“He practices every day and he can do it with ease.”
