Everton completed the £5million signing of Wigan Athletic striker Arouna Kone after he penned a three-year deal at Goodison Park.
Kone becomes the first signing of new Everton boss Roberto Martinez, who brought the striker to England from Spain last summer when in charge at the DW Stadium.
Martinez is hoping to build a squad capable of mounting a charge for Champions League football next season and Kone proved in his short spell with Wigan in the top flight that he has an eye for goal.
Despite playing in a side battling to beat the relegation and also spending a month away at the African Nations Cup, Kone still managed to chip in with an impressive 13 goals.
A number of clubs including Swansea and Newcastle had also been linked with Kone, but the Ivorian was keen to link up with Martinez again and opted for a move to Merseyside.
Everton struggled for goals last season and Martinez has moved quickly to address the problem area and will now look to strengthen the rest of his squad.
Martinez is also being linked with further raids on Wigan with versatile defender Antolin Alcaraz and midfielder James McCarthy also said to be a targets.
