Carlo Ancelotti was full of praise for his Real Madrid side as he watched them book their place in the quarter-finals of the Copa del Rey with a 2-0 victory over fellow La Liga outfit Osasuna.
The Italian tactician is hoping to secure his first piece of silverware in his first season with the Spanish giants and they took a step closer to the final thanks to a 4-0 aggregate win over Los Rojillos.
Ballon d’Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo bagged the opening goal of the game on Wednesday night before Argentine Angel di Maria produced a neat finish to put the tie beyond any doubt and secure a quarter-final place for Real, who are 3.70 to win the La Liga title from rivals Barcelona, who themselves are 1.55 favourites to retain the Spanish crown.
Having made six changes for the game against Osasuna at El Sadar, Ancelotti was delighted with the strength in depth of his squad and how they got the job done in the cup.
The former Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain boss said: “We controlled the game very well and the team showed good concentration.
“We managed to score early which helped and after that it wasn’t such a difficult game because we defended very well.
“There are a lot of games coming up and it is difficult to always play well, but the team is working hard at the moment and we are hungry to achieve things in the future.”
