Manchester City’s push for the Premier League title has been hit by the news star striker Sergio Aguero is facing at least a month on the sidelines.
The Argentina ace has been a revelation for City this season when scoring 19 goals already and has formed a lethal partnership with Alvaro Negredo, who has 13 goals.
Aguero opened the scoring as City defeated Arsenal 6-3 on Saturday afternoon but he then had to be replaced in the second half after picking up a calf injury.
Boss Manuel Pellegrini has today given an update on his striker and although he is still unsure how long he will be out for, he believes it will be at least a month, possibly longer.
“I think he will be, at least, one month out,” he said.
“He has a calf injury. Maybe the doctor can say exactly how many weeks he will be.”
If that is the case then Aguero will miss the hectic Christmas period including the Boxing Day showdown against Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium.
Pellegrini does have plenty options within his squad but the loss of Aguero will still come as a big blow to him at such a crucial stage of the season.
Edin Dzeko, who has been heavily linked with a move away from the club, will now be hoping to get the chance of a run in the side, while Jesus Navas could come in after replacing Aguero at the weekend.
