Real Madrid have a place in the last eight of the Champions League all but guaranteed and defender Pepe has called on his side to “believe” they can land Europe’s top prize.
Los Blancos are the most successful club in the history of the competition having won nine titles, but they have not managed to secure the trophy – or even reach the final – since 2002.
The Spanish giants won the first leg of their last-16 tie against Schalke 6-1, with the German outfit set to visit the Bernabeu later this month, so a place in the quarter-finals is a near certainty.
Centre-half Pepe is confident his side can end their long wait for European glory and has also targeted the domestic prizes as well.
Real are currently leading La Liga and will contest the Copa del Rey final against bitter rivals Barcelona next month, and Pepe has his sights set firmly on silverware this season.
“We need to believe we can win a 10th (European) title,” Pepe told Record.
“We are working towards that but the truth is we are doing just as well in La Liga as we are in the Champions League. We also have the final of the Copa del Rey to play.
“We are doing well and we are in our best period of the season.”
Real are 4.15 to win the Champions League, 1.75 to win La Liga and 1.90 to secure Copa del Rey glory.
