Cardiff City’s hopes of staying in Premier League have been boosted by the news they have agreed a fee with Toulouse for Etienne Capoue.
Bluebirds boss Malky Mackay is keen to build a squad capable of not only staying in the Premier League but one that can emulate arch rivals Swansea City.
Mackay had missed out on the signing of Blackpool wing ace Tom Ince after agreeing a fee with Blackpool and he will be hoping for more luck with Capoue.
The transfer fee agreed with his club Toulouse has not been revealed as yet but Mackay is excited about the prospect of working with the midfielder if a deal can be pushed through.
“Ourselves and Toulouse have come to an agreement,” said Mackay.
“We’ve got to then have the conversation with Etienne and his advisors, they’ve been very professional in terms of what they’re talking about as well.
“We’ve been in constant dialogue with them in the last week and Toulouse have been excellent to deal with.
“It’s pretty delicate at the moment. We’re in discussions and negotiations but it’s something that’s ongoing.”
Capoue is now set to hold talks with Cardiff and if he can agree personal terms and pass a medical the deal could be done and dusted this week.
