Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has admitted it will be a challenge for his side to leapfrog table-toppers Chelsea and win the Premier League title this season.

The Gunners, who are 21.00 to claim the English crown, suffered a major setback on Saturday with a 1-0 defeat to Stoke City at their unhappy hunting ground, the Britannia Stadium.

That defeat now sees the north London outfit four points off the top of the table, after Chelsea secured a 3-1 victory over neighbours Fulham at Craven Cottage.

Admittedly Arsenal have come through a tough run of fixtures domestically and in Europe but things won’t get any easier for them as their next three Premier League games are against Tottenham, Chelsea and Manchester City.

It doesn’t get much tougher for an Arsenal side than those three encounters and Wenger has admitted overcoming Chelsea before the end of the campaign with be tough but he won’t give up the fight.

The Frenchman said: “We cannot say it’s easy. It is difficult, but I expected them (Chelsea) to win at Fulham.

“Our end of season has always been very strong.”

Chelsea, who are 2.20 to win the Premier League, find themselves in pole position at the moment but manager Jose Mourinho has continued to play down his team’s chances of winning the title.

Manchester City at 2.55 are just behind the Londoners in the betting but would go top on goal difference if they can manage to win their two games in hand.
