FC Internazionale Milano are interested in signing Manchester City defender Micah Richards this summer, according to his agent.

Richards found his first-team chances limited at the Etihad Stadium last season, making just eight appearances in all competitions.

The England international struggled with injuries during the 2012-13 campaign as well as having to compete with vice-captain Pablo Zabaleta for the right-back role.

Despite being severely short of match experience new Nerazzurri boss Walter Mazzarri believes that the 26-year-old has all the attributes to hold down a regular spot at the San Siro.

The agent of the defender, Dario Canovi, insists that he has held talks with Mazzarri who has been a long-time admirer.

Canovi said: “I know that there is interest from Inter in the player.

“Contacts between the two clubs are between them. Inter have contacts with Alexander Livac, the British agent with whom I work.

“He had telephone contact with those at Inter, but there is still nothing really concrete.”

He added: “He is one of the most interesting young players in the English landscape. Since Mazzarri was the coach of Napoli, I know he has seen him as a perfect player in a three-man defence.

“Last year he did not play due to a physical problem. I do not know the will of the player.”
