Top Wimbledon seed Novak Djokovic has set up a semi-final date with Juan Martin del Potro after beating Tomas Berdych 7-6 (7-5) 6-4 6-3.

The Czech Republic star pushed Djokovic all the way in the first set before losing a tie break and was then 3-0 up in the second before losing his focus to surrender the set.

Djokovic then wrapped up the third with ease to reach his 13th consecutive semi-final at Grand Slam tournaments and he will take some stopping as he looks to win his seventh major title and second Wimbledon.

Del Potro beat David Ferrer, also in straight sets 6-2 6-4 7-6 (7-5), despite carrying a knee injury and will now face Djokovic for a place in the final on Sunday.

It is the first time the 24-year-old has made it to the semi-finals at Wimbledon and he hopes his knee problem will not hamper his chances of defeating Djokovic.

“It’s going to be dangerous if I don’t recover in the next few days,” Del Potro said of his knee. “I was really close to pulling out, I felt a lot of pain. But the doctor gave me some massive pills.

“I think I played my best tennis in this match, I’m so happy with my level at this moment.”
