Malaga coach Manuel Pellegrini confirmed rumors of agreement with Manchester City manager.

Following their second place finish in the top flight and their loss to Wigan in the FA Cup, Manchester City officials sacked Roberto Mancini

Pellegrini, who can be the second La Liga manager to enter Premier League this season after Jose Mourinho’s return to Chelsea,  admitted that the deal is on its way and if it pulls through he will coach at Etihad next season.

“I have a commitment to make Manchester City my priority. I have a verbal agreement with them and I hope it is carried out,” said the 59-year-old manager.

“Until things have been signed, you cannot say everything is completely done,” he added.

The Chilean also admitted he is excited by the thought of coaching the Blues. “To be able to build up a club, this is as important as going to an institution where you will be able to win titles,” said Pellegrini, who steered Malaga into a Europa League qualification next season.

“I am motivated a great deal by a project as exciting as the one at Malaga.”

Malaga, however, was banned by UEFA after it failed to pay on time to its creditors, players and other clubs and must make an appeal to the organizers to reclaim the qualification.
