Laura Robson will make her final preparations for the Australian Open by participating in the Hobart International in January.
The British number one was confirmed by organisers as part of the field that will contest the tournament in the Tasmanian city from January 5 – eight days before the first grand slam event of 2014 starts in Melbourne.
Robson, who is already confirmed to play in the Auckland Open a week earlier, will look to do better than her previous appearance in Hobart when she lost in the first round to Sloane Stephens in January.
The 19-year-old will also be putting into practice what she has picked up from working with veteran American coach Nick Saviano at his academy in Florida during the off-season.
Robson linked up with the 57-year-old earlier this month after being without a coach since splitting from Miles Maclagan in October.
Meanwhile, Australia’s former US Open champion Sam Stosur heads the line-up in Hobart, while Venus Williams and this year’s Wimbledon semi-finalist, Kirsten Flipkens, will also feature.
