Andy Murray was delighted with his performance as he defeated Alexander Bublik in the opening round of Rotterdam Open by 7-6, 6-4. Murray was delighted with his returns on Bublik’s second serve and feels he was able to hold his ground really well throughout the contest.

In fact, Alexander Bublik was coming off after winning Open Sud de France title and he was high on confidence but Murray was able to go past him.

Bublik had bested Alexander Zverev in the final of Open Sud de France however Murray was able to bring his A-game to the table against a recent champion.

“There were some tough moments in the first set for both of us,” Andy Murray told Amazon Prime after the match. “I just managed to come through at the end of it – hit some great returns off some big second serves at the end and did a good job.

“It’s not easy playing against someone like that – he’s going for huge serves, a lot of drop shots and at times is looking disinterested but is still trying. You have to keep your focus and I did that well.”

On the other hand, Murray will face another tough challenge as he will face Felix Auger Aliassime, who recently qualified for the semifinals of the Australian Open and made a fine start to the year. The Canadian was beaten by eventual runners-up Daniil Medvedev in five-set thriller.

“I’m looking forward to that one,” Murray said. “He’s started the year very well, one of the best young players just now. “I’ll need to be on my game if I want to beat him but it’s a great test for me and we’ll see what happens out there.”

Murray will once again look to be at the top of his game against Felix Auger Aliassime.
