Roger Federer has sent out a warning to his rivals for the Wimbledon title, after a comprehensive win in the quarter finals at the Gerry Weber Open.

The Swiss ace has responded well to losing in the last eight at the French Open as he prepares for his bid for a seventh crown at SW19.

Federer needed just 40 minutes to beat Germany’s Mischa Zverev without dropping a game, enjoying a 6-0, 6-0 success over the world 156.

That is only the second time in his career that the 31-year-old has recorded a double bagel – the first coming back in the 2005 Tennis Masters Cup against Gaston Gaudio.

Federer has won the title at Halle on five occasions and followed up four of those wins (2003, 04, 05 and 06) with success at Wimbledon.

The Swiss’ next test in a bid to make it a sixth success on German grass, will be against either Tommy Haas or Gael Monfils.

Home favourite Haas beat Federer in the 2012 final, while Federer has a 6-1 winning record in the head-to-head stats with Monfils.
