John Higgins is hoping to end 2017 in style by lifting the Scottish Open title after beating Jack Lisowski to reach round two on Monday.

The Scot made easy work of Lisowski as he cruised to a 4-1 triumph in Glasgow and he will now take on world number 117 Christopher Keogan on Wednesday.

Higgins, who is priced at 10.00 to win the Dafabet Masters 2018, has only previously met with Keogan once, claiming a 4-1 victory at the Euro Play Tour Championship 2 in 2012, and he will be expecting another routine win.

The 42-year-old has his eyes firmly set on the prize in his homeland after going so close to lifting the title last season and he has vowed to put everything into his performances.

Marco Fu proved too strong for Higgins in the 2016 final as he ran out a comfortable 9-4 winner and Higgins is desperate to go one better this year.

Higgins said: “Everybody’s going to give it one last go.

“We’ve played a lot of snooker the last three or four months with a lot of travelling, but one last push to do well before Christmas and then I’ll have two or three weeks off.

“I’ve got decent memories from last year but just fell at the final hurdle, so I’d love to go one better.

“I’m very happy to get through the first round because Jack was one of the toughest ones I could have faced.”
