Wigan Warriors coach Shaun Wane demanded a much-improved performance from his side when they take on Super League leaders Huddersfield on Friday night.

The Warriors only just edged past Hull KR 21-16 last Friday as two tries from Josh Charnley wrapped up the win, but Wane was far from happy with the performance.

Next up is a crucial clash against Huddersfield, a game that could decide who will win the league shield, and Wane says he hopes some harsh words have sorted them out.

The Challenge Cup final is also on the horizon but Wane says his players should be capable of fighting a battle on more than one front.

“Huddersfield have been very, very good this year and we will need to be a lot better than we were against Hull KR,” Wane revealed.

“We will be a different team, I can assure you.

“I want to win every game and win every trophy like every Super League coach. There isn’t a coach who doesn’t want to win everything and I think if we keep chalking these games off like we are doing then we are giving ourselves a chance.

“We are in control – we are grinding games out, not at our best but are still doing enough to win games.”

The Giants have already beaten Wigan once this season thanks to an impressive performance in a 22-10 win and racked up a 46-4 victory over Salford on Sunday to leave them in good shape going into the weekend’s game.
