WBC cruiserweight champion Tony Bellew has vowed to put a hurting on B.J. Flores when the two meet at the Echo Arena in Liverpool on Saturday night.

Bellew claimed the belt with a destructive KO win over Ilunga Makabu at Goodison Park in May and the reigning champion will be making his first title defence.

The 33-year-old’s confidence is sky high going into the contest following a positive training camp.

However, Flores will be no pushover and his only two losses have come on points in world title clashes – Danny Green for the IBO crown in November 2010 and Beibut Shumenov for the interim WBA strap in July 2015.

This is realistically the final chance for the American to earn success at an elite level and Bellew feels his opponent is in the ‘last chance saloon’.

The champion is feeling good ahead of the bout and is adamant challenger Flores will be the loser at the final bell.

“He said that he’s going to show me what he’s all about in round one, well, if he does that he’s not going to see round two because he will be asleep,” Bellew said.

“If I connect with any heavyweight or cruiserweight in the world, I hurt you. I don’t care how big you are, I have this freaky power.”

Bellew is the firm 1.08 favourite to win the clash, the tie is priced at 34.00 while Flores is a 9.00 chance.
