The Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf is the target for Winsili following her victory in the Nassau Stakes at Goodwood on Saturday.

Winsili caused an upset in the Group One race when holding off the challenge of Thistle Bird, while stablemate Hot Snap stayed on to make up the places.

It was a wise decision by trainer John Gosden to drop back to 10 furlongs after she struggled over a mile and a half in the Ribblesdale Stakes at Royal Ascot last time out.

Khalid Abdullah’s racing manager Teddy Grimthorpe says the race could not have gone any better and revealed afterwards that he now has plenty of options for both Winsili and Hot Snap, including a trip over the Channel.

“Winsili had only had the two races this season so she’s not got many miles on the clock,” he said.

“She’s not particularly big but is a robust filly. She doesn’t like standing still, she needs to be kept on the move.

“I would think a Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare might be on the agenda as a main aim given mile-and-a-half races like the Yorkshire Oaks are out really.

“She could take in something like the Prix de l’Opera on the way. There’s the (Prix Jean) Romanet at Deauville but that might come too soon (August 18). That would be the programme for both of them really.

“Hot Snap might appreciate a little more cut. The Opera might be more her thing but we’ve got interesting options for both.”
