Trainer Aidan O’Brien is confident that Magic Wand will finally win her first race this week as she prepares to compete in the Arkle Finance Cheshire Oaks at Chester on Wednesday.
O’Brien has a tremendous strike rate in the race having saddled five of the last 10 winners of the Listed contest.
The Ballydoyle handler will run three horses in this year’s race and jockey Ryan Moore has picked Magic Wand.
The three-year-old finished seventh at Leopardstown in October before then coming home third at the same track last month.
However, O’Brien admits she is improving and is ready for this week’s big test.
He said: “Magic Wand is a lovely filly and a sister to Chicquita. She’s had one run on bad ground this year and got a little bit tired.
Rather than go back for a maiden now, we’ll let them step into those races as if they won their maiden and they can go back for a maiden any time.”
O’Brien will also run Forever Together and Dramatically and he believes the whole stable will learn a lot ahead of some more big races this summer.
“Forever Together hasn’t run this year and is still a maiden as well, but she’s ready to go.
We were waiting on the ground and obviously you can’t wait too long,” the trainer told At The Races.
“It will be a good experience for them and we’ll see how we go. We will all learn together.”
