Bubba Watson dropped three shots in final nine holes as he fell into a three-way tie for lead at end of third round at Travelers Championship on Saturday.
The former champion had originally extended his overnight lead at TPC River Highlands as he started the third round in spectacular fashion, picking up three early shots.
However, the American then threw away his lead to blow the tournament wide open, being joined on 10-under par by compatriot Charley Hoffman and Graham DeLaet of Canada.
Speaking about his round, Watson said: “I hit some shots that were really good, some quality shots. I got a couple bad breaks too, but that’s golf. I still have a shot on Sunday and that’s what we’re looking for when we’re playing.”
DeLaet showed his class by picking up four birdies in a row from the 10th and finished the day with a round of 65, while Hoffman finished one further back with a round of 66 after he started the day on fire, picking up four shots in the first ten holes.
Outside the top three, Chris Stroud and Nick O’Hern of Australia are one shot back and veteran Ken Duke fired a 65 to go within two shots of the leaders.
