Justin Rose believes his game is “trending in the right direction” ahead of this week’s final major of the year, the US PGA Championship.

The world number six has enjoyed another strong season, winning in New Orleans back in April while also finishing in a tie for second and a tie for sixth at the Masters and the Open Championship respectively.

Winning a second major title this week at Whistling Straits would only add to his confidence as he heads into what is likely to be a busy end to the year on both sides of the Atlantic.

Rose currently sits seventh in the FedEx Cup standings and fifth in the Race to Dubai meaning a victory in Wisconsin would give his rankings a huge lift going into the lucrative final weeks of the 2015 season.

World number two Jordan Spieth is currently the 7.50 favourite to win the US PGA Championship, with the fit-again Rory McIlroy priced at 12.00 and Rose sixth in the betting at 19.00.

After finishing in a tie for fourth at the recent Quicken Loans National and then joint third at last week’s WGC-Bridgestone Invitational, the 35-year-old admits he is feeling good about his chances and is optimistic about adding to his 2013 US Open crown this week.

“I feel like I’m trending in the right direction,” he told reporters.
“I’m moving towards the winner’s circle, so I’m coming into here with a lot of confidence.

“This would be a great week for it all to line up. It would be nice to take that extra step and get over the finish line first.”
