Kevin Kisner admits this week’s RBC Heritage tournament at Harbour Town is probably his “favourite” stop on the PGA Tour schedule.

The 35-year-old grew up near the Hilton Head layout and enjoys bringing his family along to the tournament, which he suggests has more of a “vacation” feel to it than anything else.

“This is probably my favourite event of the year,” he said ahead of the first round.

“I grew up playing this golf course in tournaments and it’s a cool place to come, bring your families, and just hang out. To come here is like a vacation.”

Kisner is in fine form leading into the tournament. Last month he took home the WGC-Dell Match Play crown, the biggest win of his career to date.

There he counted Matt Kuchar, Francesco Molinari, Louis Oosthuizen, Haotong Li, Tony Finau and Keith Mitchell among his victims. He returns to Hilton Head after he posted a career-high 21st-place finish at the Masters at Augusta on Sunday.

His liking for Harbour Town is reflected in his results. He was defeated in a play-off by Jim Furyk in 2015, sat third heading into the final round two years ago before finishing 11th, and posted another top-10 last year.

“It’s just a golf course that fits my game well,” he said.

“I feel like I’m going to play well here when I show up, and it’s always a great feeling coming to a tour event thinking you’re in great shape before you tee off.

“My game is probably in the best shape it’s been in years. I feel really good with what I’m working on and I’m starting to see a lot of results that I’m looking for on the course.”

Kisner is 26.00 to win the RBC Heritage, with Dustin Johnson tournament favourite at 8.00.
