Jenson Button has insisted being part of a ‘family’ atmosphere will be the influential factor when he decides his next move in Formula 1.

The 2009 world champion looks set to lose his seat at McLaren, with two-time world champion Fernando Alonso expected to come in after deciding to end his spell with Ferrari.

As the driver merry-go-round continues, many race fans are wondering where Button, who has 15 years of experience in F1, will end up – if anywhere – for the 2015 campaign.

Button has insisted being part of a tight team is all he wants for the future.

He said: “I feel I bring a lot to a team, not just in terms of results, but in terms of marketing within a team and working with sponsors, and how I can help develop a car.

“You want to feel like you are wanted within a team and part of the family. It’s like if your parents were to turn round and say: ‘You know what, we’re not sure if we want you at Christmas this year. But your brother can come, he’s great’. You know what I mean?

“You want to feel like you are part of the family, and they want you to be part of the family, and that’s more important than cash.”

Button is currently preparing for the final race of the 2014 campaign at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on Sunday.

It will most likely be the last time Button is seen in a McLaren before he makes his decision on where to go next, as he looks to get back towards the top end of the grid in the future.
