Toto Wolff insists his Mercedes team must keep pushing their limits if they are to continue to lead the chasing pack in 2016.

Despite still being clear at the top of both the drivers’ and constructors’ title races, the Silver Arrows have so far failed to exert the same dominance as in previous seasons.

It has only encouraged the likes of Red Bull and Ferrari and it appears the gap between the teams is significantly closing.

Mercedes remain the top dogs, however, and have won seven of the eight races in 2016.

Those results have been far from smooth, with quite often one of Nico Rosberg or Lewis Hamilton struggling while the other takes the chequered flag.

Their issues have understandably caused Wolff and his colleagues a number of headaches and he has now called on his troops to ensure their results do not lead to them growing “complacent”.

The Austrian said: “Our package is clearly as competitive as ever and we have seen that both drivers are pushing right to the limit – sometimes even beyond it.

“This is what we want to see from them. It would be easy to get complacent or ease off the pedal after our recent success.
But they are pushing themselves, each other and the team forward at every step.

“We accept that sometimes this will result in tough weekends – but it’s good for all of us.”

Next up is the Austrian Grand Prix, a race for which Hamilton is the 2.20 favourite ahead of current World Championship leader Rosberg, who is 2.60.
