Germany captain Phillipp Lahm insists he is unconcerned by Mesut Ozil’s current dip in form and is confident he will be back to his best both for Arsenal and the national side.

Ozil secured a big-money move from Real Madrid to the Emirates Stadium last September and made an immediate impact for the Gunners with some assured early displays.

But his form has tailed off since the turn of the year and he now looks a shadow of the player who dominated the midfield as Arsene Wenger’s side made their best start to a Premier League season for years.

The 25-year-old came in for some fierce criticism for his display as the Gunners went down 2-0 to Lahm’s Bayern Munich in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie and there were calls for him to be dropped.

But Lahm feels that every player suffers peaks and troughs in a career and is certain that it is only a matter of time before the former Schalke man shows his true colours once again.

“It’s normal that there are ups and downs in your career,” he said.”Mesut is an extraordinary player and for Real Madrid and in the beginning at Arsenal, he was excellent, so we don’t need to worry about Mesut.”

Both players are part of the Germany squad set to take on Chile in a friendly on Wednesday, with the Germans priced at 1.42 to win and the South Americans on offer at 6.78.

It will be an important match for Germany coach Joachim Low as he looks to finalise his squad for the World Cup, with Germany third favourites at 6.10 to land the spoils in Brazil.
