Tottenham will look to beef up their Premier League top-four credentials with an ambitious summer swoop for Valencia striker Roberto Soldado.
After just missing out on Champions League football, White Hart Lane officials have already made one statement of intent with the signing of Brazil international Paulinho for a fee of around £17m, and are now looking to bolster the attack.
Soldado was in sparkling form for Valencia in La Liga last season, netting 28 goals in 35 appearances – an impressive strike rate by any striker’s standards.
With Valencia strapped for cash at present, they may be unable to resist overtures for many of their star players, 28-year-old Soldado included, especially if the north Londoners are forthcoming with a fee of around £15m, a third of which may result from the possible sale of Emanuel to Besiktas of Turkey.
Copa Libertadores and Fifa Club World Cup winner Paulinho, meanwhile, is set to undergo a medical ahead of his move to Tottenham from Corinthians.
After all the paperwork is complete, the 24-year-old Brazilian Serie A winner will then take a short holiday before moving to the English capital.
