Tottenham boss Tim Sherwood insists he is happy with his current squad after turning down the opportunity to strengthen it on deadline day.

Under Harry Redknapp, the club was famous for completing late deals in the final hours of the transfer window, but Sherwood did not feel the need to splash the cash.

Spurs may have been expected to add one or two new faces after their 5-1 defeat to Manchester City on Wednesday.

However, they were involved in one piece of business on Friday as midfielder Lewis Holtby joined Fulham on loan until the end of the season.

Sherwood said: “I don’t need anyone else, thank you very much.

“Chairman Daniel Levy asked if I want to strengthen, but I’m confident in the players we’ve got.

“They can bring them in but they won’t play. Unless we’re all in agreement they don’t bring them in, because there’s no point.

“It’s not always the [right] way, just to buy players. We need to put things together like a jigsaw and I’ve got real trust in the players that we’ve got.”

Sherwood will be hoping his faith in the players will be repaid as they look to put pressure on the top four in the Premier League.
