Fernando Torres has played down talk linking him with a possible move to La Liga champions Barcelona after admitting Chelsea “expected much more from me”.
Torres’ future with the west London club seemingly hangs in the balance after enigmatic boss Jose Mourinho made his return to the club to take charge for a second stint.
The Portuguese has made no secret of how he feels the Spaniard’s career has stalled with the Blues, labelling his time there as ‘so-so’ earlier this week.
Mourinho is in the market for another striker and has already seen a £34million-plus-Torres bid for Edison Cavani rejected by Italian side Napoli, according to reports.
The former Atletico Madrid and Liverpool forward revealed he has a special personal relationship with Blaugrana president Sandro Rosell, but that will have no control over where his future lies.
Torres said: “I look forward to talking with Mourinho and knowing what he plans for me.
“I’m the first I know they expected much more from me, and I also expected more from myself. Now I have Mourinho’s pressure added and that’s a challenge for a player.”
“I have known Sandro Rosell for a long time, ” he added.
“There is a personal relationship, but nothing else.”
