Midfielder Toni Kroos insists that he is certain he made the correct decision to join Real Madrid after completing his move from Bayern Munich on Thursday.

Kroos was the subject of a lot of attention this summer after impressing as a key member of the Bavarian squad and also helping Germany to claim the World Cup in Brazil.

The 24-year-old featured in every game for Joachim Low’s side in South America, scoring twice in the 7-1 mauling of the hosts in the semi-final.

Los Blancos had to fend off interest from a couple of European heavyweights with Manchester United reported to have been heavily interested in acquiring his services.

The midfielder cost the Champions League winners £24million and is expected to be utilised often by Carlo Ancelotti, who is hoping to add further silverware to his CV.

The Germany international admitted that he was dead set on a move to the Santiago Bernabeu and never considered any other avenues.

Kroos said: “It made me very happy, I was very proud. I’m absolutely convinced that it’s the right choice and today just reaffirmed my decision.

“Everyone has been very friendly towards me, I’ve liked everything so far. Meeting the fans was very special and reaffirmed to me that I’ve made the right decision.

“In my opinion, Real Madrid are the biggest club there is. That’s why I was sure I wanted to join them. They were my first and only choice and everything went according to plan.”
