Seri Roma talks confirmed

Jean Michael Seri’s days as a Fulham player may be numbered after his agent confirmed talks have taken place over a move to Roma.

Seri joined the Cottagers on a four-year deal last summer – one of a number of new faces brought in for the club’s return to the Premier League. However, it all turned sour in west London as three managers failed to keep them in the top flight and so it will be Championship football at Craven Cottage in 2019-20.

Scott Parker is the man charged with the task of getting things back on track and there were encouraging signs towards the end of last term after relegation had been confirmed, but a 46-match season in the second tier is a different matter.

The former West Ham and Tottenham star will need players prepared to knuckle down for the battle ahead and it is open to debate as to whether Seri fits into that category.

It always seemed likely he would leave following the drop and Roma’s new manager Paulo Fonseca knows Seri from working alongside the 27-year-old at Portuguese club Pacos Ferreira.

Seri’s agent, Franklin Mala, admits dialogue has taken place between the parties concerned and Seri would willingly move to the Italian capital.

“My Italian partner and I spoke to Roma a couple of weeks ago. We’ll see how the situation evolves,” he told TeleRadioStereo. “He’d be happy to play in Serie A and Roma are a very good club.”

Crystal Palace are also said to be keen on the Ivory Coast international although the schemer is thought to prefer a move to Serie A. Fulham are 3.25 to be promoted, with Leeds United the 2.75 favourites.
