Goalkeeper Craig Gordon says Celtic are in upbeat spirits as they prepare to return to action following the winter break this weekend.
The Bhoys will play their first match of 2019 when they welcome Airdrieonians to Parkhead in the Scottish Cup on Saturday and that match will kickstart a run of six games over an 18-day spell.
Celtic will head into the second-half of the season having already won the Scottish League Cup, while they also sit top of the Scottish Premiership standings, all be it on goal difference, and they have a Europa League round of 32 tie to look forward to against Valencia next month.
Scotland international Gordon was certainly pleased by his side’s work during the first-half of the campaign and he is hoping they can kick-on and enjoy further success over the coming months.
“Ultimately, it’s all about getting ready for the second-half of the season,” Gordon told the Celtic View.
“We had a good first part, and we’re happy that we’re sitting at the top of the league, we’ve managed to win the League Cup, and we’re still in Europe.
“In terms of what we were looking to do at the start of the season by this point, we’ve managed to do that and now we can really push on into the second part of the season, and try to win more trophies.”
Celtic will certainly fancy their chances of making a winning start to 2019 against League One outfit Airdrieonians and they are priced at 1.06 to claim the victory on Saturday, while the Diamonds are available at 26.00 to spring a surprise and the draw is on offer at 11.00.
